You can configure Canary based on your personal preferences. To do this, go to Preferences.


The Display section allows you to configure different settings of your Canary app.


The General subsection allows you to change the Language, Transparency, Theme and Icon of your Canary app. You can also enable/disable the Unified Inbox feature to collect all inbox messages and display it in a single view and keep yourself updated with the number of your Unread or Total emails in your inbox through the Badge Count setting.


The Reading subsection allows you to hide/show the Message Pane or Beautify Images on your Canary app. You can also include/exclude Newsletters in your email.

Thread List

The Thread List subsection allows you to show/hide your Account Name in a Unified inbox, use Separators between emails, show/hide your Avatar, Dim bulk emails and set the number of lines for Message Previews.


The Notifications subsection allows you to configure your email notifications in Canary. Cuztomise your notification preferences for your New, Read and Sent emails here.


Finally, the Compose subsection allows you to change your text Font, Size, and Color.


The Behaviors subsection lets you configure preferences as follows.


In the General subsection, you can opt to use Canary as your Default Mail App, configure your Keyboard shortcuts, enable/disable Conversations and sync Canary with your iCloud account.


In the Actions subsection, you can configure Canary to enable/disable Undo Send, Open Finder on Download and Move Entire Thread. You can also select your thread from the Oldest to the Newest and set your notification action to Reply, Archive, Delete, Pin, Star or Mark as Read.


The Reading subsection allows you to configure Canary when reading an email. You can Show URLs on Hover, Load Remote Images, Block Trackers, enable/disable Data Detectors and Opening Links in Background. You may also mark emails as read On Select, With Delay (5 seconds) and Manually.


When Sending your emails, configure Canary to Track by Default or Send & Archive your emails.


The PGP section allows you to Encrypt or Sign your emails by default.


Manage your email accounts on Canary by going to the Accounts tab. In this section, you can Add, set an account as a Default Sender, Disable Notifications, Personalize, configure the account Settings, or Delete it.


You can disable your email notifications on Canary. Set your Snooze schedule on a preferred date or time on the Snooze section as shown below.


Add your Signature for each of your email in this section. Create and save your Signature by clicking on the add button (+) or delete it by selecting a signature and clicking on the delete button ( - ). You can also format your Signature and change the Font, Size, Color and style as shown below.


Manage your email accounts on Canary by going to the Organize tab. You can set the background color of your email inbox or set the folder you want to use that account for.

Creating Folders

Organize your emails by putting them in personalized folders. To create folders, check out the steps below.

Deleting Folders


You can create or delete email Aliases in this tab. The Aliases tab allows you to create a simple replacement for email addresses that are too difficult to remember.


The Services tab allows you to connect Dropbox, Google Drive or iCloud accounts with Canary.


Create your email templates and use it as a default by going to the Templates tab.


The Swipes tab lets you configure swipes. Using your two fingers, you can easily archive, delete, set to snooze, etc an email in the thread list. Check how it works below.
